Tubatrioen Microtub er et friskt pust i samtidsmusikken! I hjertet av musikken deres ligger en dyp fascinasjon for tid, rom og mikrotonalitetens muligheter. De utforsker frekvensintervaller som er så uvanlige at man som lytter føler at man transporteres til fremmede dimensjoner.

Konserten byr på stykker spesielt tilpasset denne uvanlige tuba-trio-besetningen. Og den byr på overraskelser hvis man først og fremst forbinder tubaen med dype toner. Konserten framføres i forskjellige rom i Sentralen, og byr på stykker av komponister fra NMK (nyMusikks Komponistgruppe), og Forrest Moody, en lovende, ung amerikansk komponist. Musikken spenner fra mikrotonal utforskning og elektroakustiske lydlandskap, til ikke-vestlige stemmesystemer inspirert av persisk musikk.

The tuba trio Microtub is a breath of fresh air in contemporary music. At the heart of their work is a deep fascination with time, space and the microtonal intricacies of their instruments – an exploration of frequency ratios so rare that listeners may find themselves transported to otherworldly acoustic dimensions.

This concert, featuring pieces crafted for the unique triple-tuba lineup, reveals the surprising versatility of an instrument traditionally celebrated for its deep, resonant tones. Performed in various spaces throughout the Sentralen building, the programme highlights works by composers from NMK (nyMusikk’s Composer Group) and the upcoming young American, Forrest Moody. Their compositions cover a diverse array of styles, from microtonal explorations and electroacoustic soundscapes to non-Western tuning systems inspired by Persian music.
