On the ground floor, at the corner Øvre Slottsgate and Tollbugata, is the Hitchhiker restaurant.
Hitchhiker's restaurant was one of the first in the country to serve authentic street food, with a special emphasis on dishes from East Asia. The restaurant, which was previously located on the second floor of Mathallen, moved here to Sentralen in 2023, and continues to offer its complex menu of good ingredients, and lovely, colorful street food dishes.
The room the restaurant is located in is shaped like an L and has an open kitchen. There are three entrances: from the reception desk to the central office in Øvre Slottsgate, from the door at the corner Øvre Slottsgate and Tollbugata and from the door into the central office in Akersgata.
Completed in 1901, this building was a typical business building, but with many new and modern technical solutions. The steel load-bearing pillars, which today are foiled with colorful, graphic art in the restaurant, were part of the modern steel shell of the building. Due to this new construction method, the building could have large window surfaces, since the outer walls did not have to be load-bearing elements of the building. The restaurant therefore benfits from plenty of natural light, thanks to its large windows, and the high ceiling adds to the spacious feel. Two of the windows consist of Are Mokkelbost' solid, colourful stained glass windows.
Like the rest of Sentralen, this is a space with a distinct industrial feel such as exposed ventilation pipes, polished concrete floors and exposed brick. However, the room is decorated with large plants, Asian flowers, modern art, neon lights, bamboo and products from Asia with colorful labels.
Soft, round paper lamps hang from the ceiling, filling the room with a warm, atmospheric light as darkness falls outside.
The restaurant can be rented for breakfast meetings between 08:00 and 10:00, and for dinners after 17:00.
Hitchhiker can book DJ for an additional charge.

Rent from 08:00 - 10:00:
Hitchhiker can be hired between 08:00 - 10:00 for, for example, breakfast meetings. Food and drinks can be ordered from Sentralen's event menu. Room rental comes in addition.
Rent for dinner:
From 17:00 the restaurant can be rented for dinner.
Dinner costs 1500, - per person and includes room rental, and a five-course share menu, including dessert, and a four-unit beverage package, including welcome bubbles.
Minimum number of persons: 50.
The menu changes according to the season, and is possible to customize (both preferences and allergies).
On request, the tables are covered with white tablecloths.

There is no technical equipment included in the Hitchhiker rental.
It is possible to hire additional technical equipment, and sound and lighting technicians.
It is possible to perform streaming/recording. Sentralen has its own streaming technician and its own equipment with four cameras.

Sentralen is a versatile event house in Kvadraturen in central Oslo. The house consists of two buildings that were originally the head office of Christiania Sparebank. On six floors of historic premises, we rent out event rooms, production rooms and meeting rooms for all purposes.
Sentralen is owned by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. Sentralen will contribute to supporting the Sparebank Foundation's vision to trigger good forces, through events and favourable rental prices for tenants that fit under the purposes of cultural production and social innovation.
